The UK has a vibrant and exciting whitewater kayaking events scene, but sometimes it’s hard to find details on everything! I will try to keep this page up to date with as many events as I can. If you want your event to be added, get in touch.

DeeFest is an inclusive kayaking event taking place on the River Dee near Llangollen from 15-16th April 2023. The event celebrates the River Dee and includes fun races, socializing, and a party. The event hub, registration, and trade village will be at Mile End Mill (MEM). The entry fee of £40 per person includes entry to all events, a party on Saturday night, a Dewerstone event t-shirt, Mile End Mill fees for both days, shuttles, demo fleets, trade stands, and more. Non-members of Canoe Wales or other national governing bodies need to pay a £5 per day insurance levy.
The event features various activities such as Mass Start Race, Ducky Cross, Taily Jam, Social Float, Deestyle Rodeo, Warrior of the Wave, and Pool Inflatable Race and Party Wave. The party will take place at Llangollen Town Hall from 7 pm to midnight, with Extreme Events as the DJ crew. Parking and shuttles will be available, with a shuttle running between Horseshoe Falls, Mile End Mill, and the Ponsonby car park. There are various accommodation options in the area, including campervans/motorhomes at Mile End Mill, Bryntysilio Outdoor Centre, Gales Wine Bar, Llangollen Hostel, and more.

This year’s festival ticket includes Friday paddling facility fees, camping for Friday and Saturday nights, Saturday dinner, party tent entry, and access to all weekend events. Friday paddling allows attendees to familiarize themselves with the river before the competitions. Camping options include van/car and tent camping, with a quieter area available. Manon’s Riverside Cafe will serve wood-fired pizzas on Friday, and there will be entertainment both evenings.
The weekend features various paddling events, such as NRS Extreme Race, Palm Epic Enduro, NWWC Team Raft Race, Palm Throwbag Olympics, and a wave competition, with no pre-booking required. New events may also be introduced. Coaching sessions from Plas y Brenin are available at a subsidized additional cost. Demo boats and trade stalls will be present. The full schedule will be posted on the Tryweryn Festival Facebook page and emailed to ticket holders. Note that Friday paddling is subject to a water release.

The 2023 Dewerstone European Open is set to be an exhilarating weekend of whitewater action, following the incredible success of the 2022 event in Nottingham. Join paddlers from across Britain and Europe for two days of kayak freestyle, boater X, SUP X, inflatable fun, and more!
Last year’s event showcased outstanding talent, with British and Euro Open champions crowned in various categories. Expect a similar level of competition this year, with novices, intermediates, and experts participating in thrilling contests. The event will feature not only the freestyle and boater X championships, but also the popular SUP X, biggest pop-out, pool inflatable race, and pool inflatable freestyle events.
The 2023 Dewerstone European Open promises a weekend packed with laughter, camaraderie, and friendly competition. Paddlers will earn points for their clubs, contributing to the race for the prestigious British Club Champions title.
